Fort Collins Weekly Courier (Fort Collins, Larimer County) May 24, 1911 p2
      DEATH SUMMONS ANOTHER AGED PIONEER
      (From Monday's Daily)
Mrs. Frances Riddle, widow of the late John Riddle, died at an early hour on Sunday morning, May 21st, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. L. Landes, 1008 West Oak street, after a short illness. She sunk quietly into that "dreamless sleep that knows no waking" without pain or suffering, while two of her sons and two of her daughters and other friends gathered at her bedside.
In August, 1910 Mrs. Riddle suffered a light stroke of paralysis from which she practically recovered, however, a few months later and had been in her usual health up to a few days ago when she began to fail in strength and was compelled to take to her bed, never to rise again in life.
Frances May was born in Indiana in November, 1826 and was therefore nearly 85 years of age when summoned to join her husband who died July 23, 1887. Her parents moved from Indiana to Iowa in an early day and in that state she was united in marriage with John Riddle. In 1870 Mr. Riddle came with his family from Iowa to Colorado, and purchased a farm situated two miles northwest of Fort Collins, which was the family home for many years. Mrs Riddle was the mother of eleven children, ten of whom are living. Their names are Mrs. L. Hake of Boulder, Colorado; Stephen A. Riddle of Lucas county, Iowa; Mrs. M. L. Landes, F. P., John and I. C. Riddle of Fort Collins; E. A. Riddle and Mrs. Edson Warren of Clarendon, Texas; Mrs, T. A. Gage, of Denver, and Mrs May Owens of Grand Junction, Colorado. Mrs Rachel Watrous, another daughter, who died several years ago, was the only one of the eleven children to pass away before the mother did.
Mrs. Riddle had been a resident of Fort Collins and vicinity for forty-one years and was greatly beloved by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, at the Methodist church.  [9]
