Notes - James Verley Riddle, 86, of Callaway, formerly of Buena Vista, died Sunday, October 10, 2010. He was retired from the United States Postal Service, was a member of Stone Church of the Brethren, Buena Vista, America Legion and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. His greatest love was his family, the girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Riddle was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Decker Riddle and was the last surviving member of his siblings. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jim Fisher, Barbara and Wayne Monie; grandchildren, Brandon and Jamie Fisher, Mikelle Moore and husband, Steve, Shannon Swartz and husband, Mark; great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Jameson Moore, Kaelyn Swartz; and his grand pets. Memorials may be made to Highland United Methodist Church or your local Volunteer Rescue Squad. Funeral services will be conducted from Highland United Methodist Church 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 with the Rev. Jason Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista. His family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount/Smith Mountain Lake.
