    • Michael lived his entire lived in York County, Pennsylvania. According to the U.S census, as a 28 year old he was living with his in-laws and wife in 1850 in Lower Chanceford Township and working as a laborer. They did not yet have children, so he must have married shortly before the census was taken. Census records from 1860, 1870, and 1880 show him as a farmer in Peach Bottom Township, which is in the southeastern corner of the county next to the Maryland border.
