      Herbert Eugene Ivins† , 83
      RIDGELY, Md. - Herbert Eugene Ivins of Ridgely died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Home; Eston, MD. He was 83.
      He was born May 9, 1924, in Phoenixville, PA, to the late Frank and Grace Fogwell Ivins.
      Mr. Ivins grew up on the Mill Grove Farm in Audubon, PA. He was a plumber and electrician retiring in 1983.† He was a WWII Army Veteran earning 2 Bronze Stars while serving in the western Pacific Theater. In June of 1946, he married Mary Cole. Until 1998 they lived in Bridgetown, then moving to River Road in Ridgely. He was a member of the American Legion Post 29, Denton MD.† He was a life long fisherman and enjoyed auctions and collecting, buying and selling fishing related items and yard sales.
      In addition to his wife of 62 years Mary C. Ivins; 1 son Rick and wife Janet Lee Ivins of Ridgely; 1 daughter Kay and husband James Blinebury of NJ; 2 sisters Betty I. and husband Louis Joiner of Rock Hall & Clara Leeds of Lancaster, PA; a sister-in-law Bea & husband Carlton Goodhand; 2 grandchildren Catina Simmons & Jim Blinebury; a great-granddaughter Catena Simmons; nieces Peggy Bottomley & Dorothy Abram both of Chestertown & Sally Birkemire of Newark, DE and numerous other nieces & nephews.
      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers Robert, Donald & Frank Ivins and a sister Louise Francino.
      Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday February 04, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, MD.
      Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday February 3, 2008 from 2 to 4 PM.
      Interment will follow the service Monday in the Greensboro Cemetery in Greensboro, MD.
      Memorial donations in Herbertís memory may be made to the charity, church, or Vol. Fire Co. of your choice.
